The Troubles I've Seen

Subject

LGBTQIA+ Rights in Northern Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s

Description

In September 2019, The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant of £70,000 to support the production of 'The Troubles I've seen'. This was the first large-scale project of its kind to be funded in Northern Ireland.

The project aimed to collect, record and share the memories and experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s in the form of a documentary, which was a time period shaped by civil unrest and legislative changes.

Pictured are the documentary participants, with the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tina Black, in July 2022.
